10\30 Sergei Fedorov's 2 goals gives him a league leading 8 for the year as the Wings beat 
San Jose 3-2. Also scoring was Williams. Next up: at Ottawa on Saturday.
  Steve Yzerman is skating, but still a couple months away.
  (Freep) "Brett Hull hit Manny Legace in the head with one of his wicked shots Tuesday morning.
Legace was shaken up and had a black mark on his mask, but he was fine. "Work hazard," he said"

10\27 It was one of those nights where the Wings couldn't get a bounce and they lose 3-1 in
Nashville. Scoring was Lidstrom. Next up: San Jose at the Joe on Tuesday.

10\26 Sergei Fedorov stole the show with a hat trick to lead the Wings to a 7-3 win over the
Pens. Also scoring were Robitaille(2), Fischer, and Lidstrom. Next up: at Nashville tommarrow.

10\24 The Wings special teams units were tested heavily again and they manage a 3-3 tie with 
L.A. Scoring were Holmstrom, Datsyuk, and Fedorov. Next up: Pittsburgh at the Joe on friday.
  Steve Duchesne and Ken Holland are talking, bbut no contract is on the table.

10\22 There were 26 penalties called but it didn't matter. Wings win 4-0. Scoring were 
Maltby(sh), Chelios(sh), Holmstrom, and McCarty. CuJo got his first shutout as a Wing (37th 
career.) Kris Draper got 5 and a game for hitting defenseman Robyn Regehr from behind. Draper 
tried to pull up but too little too late. Next up: L.A. at the Joe on Wednesday.

10\20 Darren McCarty led the Wings with 2 goals, handing the Wild it's first loss of the season 
5-3. Also scoring were Zetterberg, Hull(sh), and Lidstrom. The crowd of 19,344 was the largest 
to ever see a hockey game in the state of Minnesota. Next up: L.A. at the Joe on Monday.

10\17 Montreal spoiled the banner raising ceremony at the Joe 3-2. Scoring were Shanahan and 
Datsyuk. Next up: at Minnesota on Saturday.

10\14 Manny Legace was sharp, leading the Wings to a 4-2 win in Anaheim. Scoring were 
Shanahan(2), Lidstrom, and Zetterberg got his first career goal. Shanny's second goal was
pretty unusual. The Wings had a delayed penalty and the Anaheim goaltender left the net for 
an extra skater. The Duck's Adam Oates passed the puck back to a defenseman who had moved 
and it went all the way down and in. Shanny was the last Wing to touch it. 
Next up: Banner raising and Montreal at the Joe on Thursday.

10\13 Not a bounce would go Detroit's way in a 3-2 loss in L.A. Scoring were Draper and 
Hull. Next up: at Anaheim tonight.

10\11 Kirk Maltby had a rocket in his ass, scoring two short handers in the first period to
lead the Wings to a 6-3 win in San Jose. Also scoring were Fedorov(2), Lidstrom, and 
Holmstrom. Henrik Zetterberg got his first NHL point with an assist on Fedorov's first goal.
Next up: at L.A. Saturday night.

10\6 Cujo was pretty sharp, turning away 35 shots, in a 1-1 tie with Chicago. Scoring was
Lidstrom. The Wings finish their exhibition season with a 6-2-1 record. Next up: the season
opener in San Jose on Thursday.
  Doug Brown didn't make the cut, but it seems likely he'll sign with another team if he 
wants to. Derek King was sent back to Grand Rapids.

10\4 Very sloppy play led the way as the Wings fell 4-2 against Buffalo. Scoring were 
Williams and Hull. Next up: the final exhibition game Saturday night with Chicago at the 

10\3 The club left defensemen Patrick Boileau and Eddy Campbell, forwards Derek King, Mark 
Mowers, Michel Picard and Stacy Roest, and goalie Marc Lamothe available for Friday's 
waiverdraft. Also available are former Wings Norm Maracle(Thrashers) and Anders 

10\2 The Wings only allowed 17 shots in a 4-2 win over St. Louis. Scoring were Fedorov, 
Lidstrom, Shanahan, and Zetterberg. Next up: Buffalo at the Joe on Thursday.
  Word out of Detroit is that Yzerman is a month ahead of schedule on his knee rehab.
